God rescued the Israelites from captivity of the Egyptians and numerous other people of many other nations numerous times from other similar enemies. Today, God has rescued YOU and ME from the burden of sin through the sacrifice of His only begotten son, Jesus Christ... and those who receive His sacrifice are truly "set free."
Through His unfailing promises, we have been delivered from the death penalty of sin and given everlasting life. Jesus Christ paid the price by dying on the cross to give His life as a ransom for ours.. and totally as a free gift! There is nothing we can do to repay him or earn our own salvation. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE GOD LOVE YOU ANY MORE THAN HE ALREADY DOES... AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE GOD LOVE YOU ANY LESS THAN HE ALREADY DOES... IF ONLY YOU WILL RECEIVE THE FREE GIFT OF SALVATION HE OFFERS WITHOUT COST... HE HAS ALREADY DONE ALL THE WORK.
Look at it this way... every year in America, approximately 6 million dogs are either abandoned, neglected, abused, or even put to death by "puppy mills," commercial breeders, shelters, hoarders, criminal activities such as dog fighting, and so on. You have probably seen those commercials on television where all those animals are so very sad in their cages with basically no hope. All they can do is sit there shaking in pain, getting severely bitten by fleas, ticks, and flies, and suffer horribly day after day. Many are nearly ready to perish for lack of food, exercise, and love and attention.
For example, if it weren't for rescue organizations like the small breed dog rescue group known as STFBR.org (cliking the link will take you to the "Shih Tzus and Furbaby Rescue" site) and others like it, many more sweet little dogs would not even have a chance at being "set free" from such horrible conditions. Puppies that are rescued through adoption or fostering are "redeemed" and can begin to live normal lives without fear, danger, and suffering.
Just like Jesus Christ does for us! He takes us from our hopeless condition and gives us new life through His Spirit. Just like a rescued puppy who is happy to be with a new family of believers, he no longer cares about his past life in the cage. Just like Satan had us bound in chains of darkness and spiritual pain and suffering... Jesus rescued us and began to heal the broken heart inside of us. He who the Son sets free, is free indeed! (John 8:36.)
